Pa. Gov. Wants Voter ID Law Reinstated

Law360, New York (January 28, 2014, 4:03 PM EST) -- Gov. Tom Corbett's legal team asked the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court on Monday to set aside a ruling declaring the state's voter ID law unconstitutional and to enter judgment affirming the measure's constitutionality, saying the trial judge’s verdict was flawed.

In a 38-page post-trial motion, the governor’s office argues that Commonwealth Court Judge Bernard McGinley’s Jan. 17 decision is not in line with the opinion of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, departs from established principles of statutory construction and employs a flawed constitutional standard.
