Va. Senate Passes Satellite Equipment Sales Tax

Law360, New York (January 28, 2014, 2:21 PM EST) -- The Virginia Senate on Monday unanimously approved legislation that would require satellite television customers to pay sales and use taxes on the equipment they lease or purchase.

Under current law, satellite television programmers must pay sales and use tax on the equipment instead of customers, but if SB100 is enacted, the state could pick up an additional $15 million in revenue, according to legislative documents.
