Credit Report Co.'s FCRA Damages Not Covered, Chubb Says

Law360, New York (January 29, 2014, 5:09 PM EST) -- A pair of Chubb Group insurers asked a Pennsylvania federal judge on Monday to toss General Information Services Inc.’s demand for coverage of a class action settlement over alleged Fair Credit Reporting Act violations, arguing their policies don't cover statutory damages.

GIS had filed suit in November, disputing the insurer’s refusal to cover an unfinalized settlement that has tentatively shut down plaintiff Shamara King’s allegations that the credit reporting agency willfully divulged outdated arrest information to potential employers.
