Holder Confirms Target Breach Probe, Warns Of Cyberattacks

Law360, Washington (January 29, 2014, 3:59 PM EST) -- U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder confirmed Wednesday before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee that the U.S. Department of Justice was investigating the recent credit card data breaches at Target Stores Inc., while warning that the U.S. government lacks preparation for larger-scale cyberattacks on government and private sector technologies.

The DOJ is probing a purported malware attack on the popular retail store, which exposed customer information of an estimated 70 million Target customers, Holder told the committee in an oversight hearing.
