Google Inks $3B Sale Of Motorola To Lenovo

Law360, New York (January 29, 2014, 7:31 PM EST) -- Google Inc. agreed to sell its Motorola Mobility unit for $2.91 billion to Chinese computer maker Lenovo Group Ltd., allowing the PC business to continue its push into the world of smartphones, the companies announced late Wednesday.

Under the terms of the deal, Google will hand over Motorola and some of its related intellectual property rights and contracts, but hold onto the “vast majority” of its smartphone patent portfolio, according to a statement.
