Miami New Times Cleared In Doping Clinic Privacy Suit

Law360, Miami (February 21, 2014, 5:27 PM EST) -- A Florida judge on Friday tossed claims filed by a former University of Miami strength coach against the Miami New Times claiming the weekly newspaper's publication of his records from a clinic connected to performance enhancing drugs led to his firing.

Plaintiff Jimmy Goins said that reports published by the New Times, The Miami Herald and The New York Times invaded his privacy and caused him harm by wrongly associating him with a doping scandal involving Major League Baseball players who allegedly received performance enhancing drugs from the Miami clinic Biogenesis of America LLC.
