GE, Toshiba, Hitachi Face Fukushima Suit In Japan

Law360, New York (January 30, 2014, 8:05 PM EST) -- Toshiba Corp., General Electric Co. and Hitachi Ltd. have been sued in Japan on claims that they failed to make needed safety improvements to reactors at the Fukushima nuclear power plant before it was damaged in 2011's massive tsunami.

The roughly 1,400 plaintiffs, many of whom resided near the plant, said the companies should be financially liable for damage caused by the reactors’ meltdowns, according to The Associated Press.
