Syntellect Can't Shake $4.7M Indemnity Verdict

Law360, Los Angeles (January 30, 2014, 8:04 PM EST) -- A California federal judge on Tuesday reinstated a $4.7 million indemnification judgment against Syntellect Inc. stemming from its failure to indemnify Southern California Gas Co. in a patent infringement suit over Syntellect technology, ruling there was no reason to allocate liability to other parties.

U.S. District Judge Roger T. Benitez granted SoCal Gas’s motion for partial summary judgment after a Ninth Circuit panel in July ordered him to determine whether the telecom company should share liability with SoCal Gas or others.
