3M, GE, Others Ink Cleanup Deal Over Ohio Superfund Site

Law360, Chicago (February 3, 2014, 2:58 PM EST) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Friday entered a settlement with a slew of corporations — including 3M Co., General Electric Co. and U.S. Steel Corp. — to cover cleanup costs at a Superfund site outside Dayton, Ohio.

The deal will avoid protracted litigation and speed up remediation efforts at the Lammers Barrel site, which housed a chemical recycling facility in the 1950s and 1960s, according to a consent decree filed in Ohio federal court.
