Fluorescent-Light Suit Tossed For Inequitable Conduct

Law360 (March 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge granted summary judgment Monday to a group of retailers, including Costco Wholesale Corp., Ikea IL LLC, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Home Depot Inc., in a patent dispute over compact fluorescent lamps.

Judge Robert W. Gettleman of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois agreed with the defendants that the plaintiff, Oke K. Nilssen, had committed inequitable conduct and that his two patents covering fluorescent lamps were therefore unenforceable.
