HSBC Loan Officers Win Class Status In FLSA Suit

Law360 (March 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has dealt a double blow to HSBC Mortgage Corp. in a wage-and-hour battle with its army of loan officers, striking some of the bank's defenses and granting class status to the disgruntled workers.

Judge Maxine M. Cheseny, of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, conditionally certified on Wednesday a class of all senior retail lending consultants employed by HSBC and its mortgage unit since May 2004.
