Social Media Site Sued For 'Reckless' Minor Privacy Practices

Law360, San Francisco (February 3, 2014, 4:51 PM EST) -- San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera on Monday hit MeetMe Inc. with a lawsuit in California court, accusing the social media site of failing to protect the privacy of underage users and leaving them potentially vulnerable to sexual predators.

The lawsuit, filed on behalf of California citizens, accuses Pennsylvania-based MeetMe.com of gathering specific geolocation data for all users, including teens, and broadcasting that information to other users.
