NJ Assembly OKs Bill To Better Utility Service Amid Blackouts

Law360, New York (February 6, 2014, 4:49 PM EST) -- A New Jersey Assembly panel on Thursday advanced a bill that would create uniform standards for utility companies across the state to improve service reliability and restoration during power outages, inspired in the wake of Hurricane Irene and Superstorm Sandy.

The Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities Committee unanimously released A1412, which requires the Board of Public Utilities to establish guidelines that electric and gas public utilities and electric power suppliers would have to follow in the event of blackouts.
