FERC Approves 1st U.S. Liquefied Natural Gas Facility

Law360, New York (March 21, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has approved the proposed Broadwater Energy LLC liquefied natural gas facility, the first such facility in the U.S., on condition that Broadwater adopt more than 80 safety measures.

FERC said Thursday that the floating LNG terminal on Long Island Sound, N.Y., would be environmentally safe and would help meet increasing energy demands in Connecticut and New York by delivering up to 1.25 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day.
