Coudert Balks At Dechert's Bid To Dip Into Escrow

Law360, New York (March 21, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Defunct law firm Coudert Brothers LLP is fighting back against Dechert LLP's bid for relief from Coudert's automatic bankruptcy stay, arguing that Dechert should not be allowed to reimburse itself from an escrow account established to cover severance obligations connected with an earlier deal.

On Thursday, bankrupt Coudert voiced its opposition to Dechert's previous motion seeking leave to tap into an account earmarked to cover costs associated with Dechert's assumption of Coudert's Paris office.
