MicroStrategy Patents Denied In Business Objects Case

Law360 (January 24, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- The drawn out lawsuit by software maker MicroStrategy Inc. against French rival Business Objects SA has been deflated by a federal judge, who found the asserted patents to be either invalid or not infringed.

U.S. District Judge Kent Jordan declared two of three MicroStrategy patents in the case to be invalid, and ruled that Business Objects did not violate the third.

Despite the judge’s decision, which is the result of a pre-trial motion for summary judgment, a jury trial is scheduled to begin in the spring....
