Senate Votes To Suspend Federal Debt Ceiling Through 2015

Law360, Washington (February 12, 2014, 9:55 PM EST) -- The U.S. Senate on Wednesday passed legislation suspending the federal debt ceiling until March 2015, just a day after the House of Representatives narrowly agreed to the bill, staving off the threat of a federal default.

Senators voted 55-43 to pass the bill immediately after a 67-31 vote to end debate, made necessary by the opposition of a number of Republican senators, most notably Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who had threatened a filibuster, urging his party colleagues ahead of the vote not to support the measure....
