Notre Dame Asks 7th Circ. For Birth Control Waiver

Law360, Chicago (February 12, 2014, 7:07 PM EST) -- The University of Notre Dame pressed the Seventh Circuit on Wednesday for an exemption from the contraception coverage mandate under the Affordable Care Act, arguing that the government's procedure for opting out of the mandate still requires it to compromise its Roman Catholic beliefs.

The Catholic university is seeking an injunction from the appeals court that would match the one the U.S. Supreme Court granted to a nun-operated nonprofit last month. The injunction would allow Notre Dame to stop paying for birth control under health plans...
