Pa. Gov. Wants AG To Investigate Chesapeake Gas Royalties

Law360, Philadelphia (February 14, 2014, 3:25 PM EST) -- Pennsylvania's governor urged the state's attorney general on Friday to open an inquiry into allegedly excessive deductions Chesapeake Energy Corp. took out of royalty checks cut for landowners who agreed to lease their properties to the company for oil and gas development.

In a letter to Chesapeake CEO Robert Lawler, Gov. Tom Corbett said he was calling on Attorney General Kathleen Kane to investigate after receiving a slew of complaints from landowners claiming that the company was skimming money from royalty payments required under state law....
