Hospital's $79M Suit Against UnitedHealth Sent To Arbitration

Law360, New York (February 28, 2014, 8:04 PM EST) -- A New Jersey judge on Friday packed MHA LLC's $79 million suit against UnitedHealth Group Inc. entities off to arbitration and barred the hospital operator from going after hundreds of onetime patients for the gap between its rates and what the insurers covered.

The owner of Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center in Secaucus, N.J., MHA has claimed UnitedHealth affiliates owe it more than $200 million, but the Aug. 30 suit focused on more than $79 million in denials and purported underpayments between its purchase of the facility...
