Fed. Circ. Refuses To Revive Automatic Hazard Light Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (February 18, 2014, 4:07 PM EST) -- A Federal Circuit panel on Tuesday denied attempts by the inventor of automatic hazard lights to force the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration to allow his patented device to be installed in cars, ruling inventor Paul Michelotti brought the suit in federal claims court, which did not have jurisdiction.

In a per curium, non-precedential opinion, the panel upheld the lower court’s dismissal of the suit, finding that Michelotti did not properly bring claims that would require a monetary award, required of suits in the U.S. Court...
