Ex-McDonald's Franchisee To Pay Guest Workers' Back Wages

Law360, Los Angeles (February 19, 2014, 4:12 PM EST) -- The Pennsylvania owner of a former McDonald's Corp. franchisee who allegedly underpaid foreign college students on a guest-worker program and housed them in cramped basements will pay $206,000 in back wages and damages to 291 employees, the U.S. Department of Labor said Tuesday.

Cheung Enterprises LLC and its president, Andy Cheung, have also allegedly agreed to pay a $5,000 fine for willfully violating the Fair Labor Standards Act's minimum wage and overtime provisions, following a DOL investigation into the company's six locations in central Pennsylvania....
