DOI Greenlights Solar Projects On Calif., Nev. Federal Land

Law360, Los Angeles (February 19, 2014, 3:45 PM EST) -- Federal regulators have approved two solar energy projects near the California-Nevada border that are expected to cut down on carbon emissions and create 550 megawatts of energy, enough to power about 170,000 homes, the U.S. Department of the Interior announced Wednesday.

The facilities, to be managed by First Solar Inc., will mark the 50th utility-scale renewable energy project approved on public land since 2009, the DOI said.
