Jim Beam Maker Can't Shake $100M Whiskey Contract Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (February 19, 2014, 8:17 PM EST) -- A New York federal judge on Wednesday rejected Beam Inc.'s bid to toss a $100 million lawsuit brought by a whiskey importer against the U.S. maker of Jim Beam for allegedly breaching a contract in order to rid the market of Michael Collins Irish Whiskey.

Sidney Frank Importing Co. Inc., based in New Rochelle, N.Y., filed suit last March claiming that Beam and its Cooley Distillery unit schemed to cut SFIC off from its "only available source" for Michael Collins whiskey, which has won numerous awards.
