Soda Tax, Warning Labels Have Broad Support In Calif.: Poll

Law360, New York (February 20, 2014, 1:57 PM EST) -- A large, bipartisan majority of California voters support a tax on sugary beverages and mandatory labels that warn of the drinks' adverse health effects, according to a Field Poll released Thursday.

The poll, sponsored by The California Endowment, found 67 percent of voters throughout the state want a tax on the sale of all sodas and other sugary drinks, and residents believe the tax proceeds should be spent on school nutrition and physical activity programs for children.
