Drug Test Co. Pays $5M For Medicare False Billing Claims

Law360, Washington (February 20, 2014, 6:04 PM EST) -- Dallas-based medical and drug testing company Medicus Laboratories LLC has agreed to pay $5 million to end claims that it falsely billed Medicare for laboratory services, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Inspector General announced Thursday.

The deal resolves allegations by the watchdog that Medicus violated the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by knowingly presenting multiple claims to Medicare for a single-patient encounter, as well as submitting claims for lab-testing services that the program doesn't cover, the announcement claims.
