GM Hit With Seat Belt Suit Over Child's Death

Law360, New York (March 26, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Texas family has launched a legal battle against General Motors Corp., accusing the automaker of installing faulty seat belts that caused the death of one of their children when their 1996 Suburban rolled over after being struck by another vehicle.

The Medelin family said in their lawsuit, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, that the vehicle was not “reasonably crashworthy and was not reasonably fit for unintended, but clearly foreseeable, accidents.”
