Ex-BDO Boss Says Arbitration Award Was Based On Fraud

Law360, New York (February 21, 2014, 2:43 PM EST) -- BDO Seidman LLP's former CEO asked a New York state court on Thursday to overturn an arbitration award ruling the accounting firm didn't have to pay his defense costs in a criminal tax-evasion case, saying the firm had defrauded the arbitrator during the proceedings.

Denis M. Field, who was acquitted on retrial in October of criminal tax-evasion charges, filed a motion to vacate a July 2012 New York Supreme Court arbitration decision allowing BDO to avoid paying Field’s legal fees, alleging the firm defrauded the arbitrator...
