FCC Should Oversee Cable-Provider Swaps: Verizon

Law360, New York (March 26, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Telecommunications company Verizon Communications Inc. has filed a petition with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission claiming the current process for switching from one cable provider to another is anti-competitive.

In its petition for a declaratory ruling filed Wednesday with the FCC, Verizon asked the regulator to require cable providers to accept cancellation of video services from the consumer’s new provider, much like telephone companies have done for years.
