FTC's Brill Calls For Data Security Regulation

Law360, Los Angeles (February 21, 2014, 4:22 PM EST) -- A Federal Trade Commissioner put pressure on Congress Thursday to pass laws that would require data brokers to reveal more information to consumers about the privacy, or lack thereof, of their personal information.

In an address at Princeton University, Commissioner Julie Brill pushed for the passage of “baseline” laws on commercial privacy in the U.S., calling for a more aggressive policy on the way personal information is regulated in the commercial space.
