High Court Refuses Widow's Appeal In Hyatt Terrorism Suit

Law360, New York (February 24, 2014, 6:01 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to force the U.S. litigation of a wrongful death suit lobbed at a foreign affiliate of Hyatt Hotels Corp. by the widow of a prominent Hollywood director-producer who was killed in a 2005 bombing of a Syrian hotel.

Denying certiorari without explanation, the Supreme Court refused to take up the suit filed on behalf of the widow of Moustapha Akkad, who was the executive producer of the "Halloween" horror films and widely considered to be Syria’s greatest film director....
