DOJ Sues 4 Calif. Cos. To Block Import Of Dangerous Toys

Law360, New York (February 24, 2014, 6:42 PM EST) -- Four California companies and six people have been accused of importing toys tainted with dangerous levels of lead and a chemical plasticizer in a suit lodged by the Department of Justice, which asked a federal judge on Monday to bar the products from entering the country.

Toys Distribution Inc., S&J Merchandise Inc., BLJ Apparel Inc. and All Season Sales Inc. imported dolls, toy cars and other playthings with impermissible lead levels and containing banned phthalates, which are plasticizers that give certain products flexibility, the DOJ said....
