Ex-Madoff Aide Says She 'Never Knowingly' Committed Fraud

Law360, New York (February 24, 2014, 9:35 PM EST) -- Bernard Madoff’s former secretary told a New York federal jury Monday that she was unaware of the massive Ponzi scheme and "never knowingly" committed fraud during 40 years working alongside the convicted investment adviser.

Annette Bongiorno, one of five former Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC employees on trial over the fraud, became the second of the defendants to testify in Manhattan court. Her attorney, Roland Riopelle, asked directly whether she had ever understood that Madoff was running a Ponzi scheme.
