Crum & Forster Says No Coverage For Radon-Tainted Homes

Law360, New York (February 24, 2014, 7:24 PM EST) -- Crum & Forster Specialty Insurance Co. lodged a federal lawsuit Monday denying any obligation to defend property developer Gemcraft Homes Inc. against demands for medical monitoring and negligence damages by West Virginia residents claiming their homes allowed carcinogenic radon inside.

The insurer asked a Maryland federal court to bless its decision denying coverage for a West Virginia state court suit that targets Gemcraft and the handful of subcontractors that constructed the Stoney Ridge subdivision near Inwood, W.Va.
