Atty Advocacy Org Pushes For End To Pa. Reciprocity Limits

Law360, Philadelphia (September 10, 2014, 5:07 PM EDT) -- The lawyer for an attorney advocacy group on Wednesday attacked the Pennsylvania rule preventing attorneys from states without bar reciprocity from practicing in the state, telling a federal judge that it violated the U.S. Constitution.

Joe Giannini of the National Association for the Advancement of Multijurisdiction Practice argued that Rule 204 of Pennsylvania's bar requirements, which denies admission by motion for attorneys from the 12 states lacking reciprocity agreements, is an unfair restriction on attorneys’ rights to practice.
