Imerys' $1.61B Offer Tops Rival's Bid For Amcol

Law360, New York (February 26, 2014, 6:39 PM EST) -- Imerys SA has upped its offer to buy Amcol International Corp. to $1.61 billion including debt, the companies said Wednesday evening, usurping an offer made by Minerals Technologies Inc. Tuesday and appearing to end the bidding battle.

The two mineral companies have been attempting to purchase Amcol for weeks. Minerals Technologies first stepped into the fray on Valentine's Day, just two days after Imerys and Amcol appeared to have a deal locked in.
