Ex-German President Acquitted In Bribery Trial

Law360, New York (February 27, 2014, 11:59 AM EST) -- Former German President Christian Wulff was acquitted Thursday of allegations he accepted a bribe from a filmmaker in exchange for lobbying efforts with Siemens AG to support a movie project, charges that prompted his resignation two years ago.

A court in the Lower Saxony state capital of Hanover handed down the verdict Thursday morning, according to the Associated Press. Wulff told reporters that he "never had any doubt" he would be cleared, the news service reported.
