Calif. Considers Laws To Curb Wage-And-Hour Suits

Law360 (March 27, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Plaintiffs firms that have made a steady business of bringing class actions against employers for violating California's rest and meal break laws may be looking for a new line of work if key amendments pending before the state legislature are passed.

With about 12 of these lawsuits being filed every day in the state, lawmakers have introduced three employer-friendly bills that would clarify the Labor Code and drastically cut down on suits alleging employees worked through their rest and lunch breaks.
