Mattel Snaps Up Toymaker Mega Brands In $460M Deal

Law360, New York (February 28, 2014, 11:25 AM EST) -- Mattel Inc. will swallow Canadian toy company Mega Brands Inc. in a deal worth $460 million, a move that will allow the world's biggest toymaker to expand into the fast-growing construction toys and crafts segments, Mattel said Friday.

Under the terms of the transaction, a Mattel subsidiary will take on Mega Brands' debt and will acquire all outstanding shares of Mega Brands for 17.75 Canadian dollars ($16) per share, which represents a 32 percent premium on the stock’s 30-day volume weighted average on the Canadian Stock...
