Gov. Renews Efforts To Ensure Oversight Of Refco

Law360 (January 30, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. government wants an independent examiner to oversee the bankruptcy proceedings of fallen futures and commodities broker Refco Inc., after the judge in the case turned down its request for trustee oversight earlier this month.

The committee representing Refco’s unsecured creditors is expected to fight the appointment of an examiner, citing their belief that the company’s new leadership will sufficiently oversee Refco’s transition from bankruptcy.
