ShopRite Owners Accused Of Seeking NJ Grocery Monopoly

Law360, New York (March 3, 2014, 5:57 PM EST) -- A developer hit the owners of numerous New Jersey ShopRites with a suit Friday in New Jersey federal court, alleging the collective worked to thwart the construction of a competing supermarket by filing baseless regulatory challenges to bind the developer in red tape.  

Hanover 3201, an Edison, N.J.-based developer, filed the suit against Village Supermarkets Inc., the owner of 26 ShopRite Supermarkets locations across New Jersey, claiming Village waged an anti-competitive war against Hanover 3201 as it sought to build a new Wegman’s Food Markets...
