FDA Looks To Social Media To Monitor Product Hazards

Law360, New York (March 3, 2014, 5:45 PM EST) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is looking for a contractor to monitor social media buzz about the products it regulates to determine the effectiveness of its communications and risk warnings, the agency said in a solicitation request.

The contractor should provide the agency with a tool to monitor social media — both in real time and historically — in order to evaluate what consumers think prior to FDA communications and then follow changes in social media conversations following the agency’s warnings, according to the request...
