El Paso Energy Hit With $21M Suit Over Data Licensing Deal

Law360, New York (March 4, 2014, 6:19 PM EST) -- Fairfield Industries Inc., which performs seismic surveys for hydrocarbon developers, sued its client El Paso Energy E&P Co. LP in Texas state court Monday for breach of contract, seeking at least $21 million in damages.

Fairfield says it had a series of Master License Agreements to provide seismic data to El Paso's three predecessors, which the Texas company acquired over time. After these mergers, the agreements were changed to relate to El Paso specifically, the latest change being in 2007, according to the suit.
