Pa. Court Says Philly Zoning Can't Preclude Meth Clinics

Law360, Philadelphia (March 6, 2014, 3:08 PM EST) -- The Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court on Thursday said that an applicant had the right to launch a methadone clinic in northeast Philadelphia, concluding that the city’s zoning code treats the facilities akin to medical offices.

The appeals court upheld a Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas ruling that favored applicant THW Group LLC by overturning a determination by the city’s Zoning Board of Adjustments that methadone clinics did not belong in C-2 commercial districts.
