The 3 Most Important White House Patent Reform Efforts

Law360, New York (March 6, 2014, 5:17 PM EST) -- On Feb. 20, the White House hosted an event "highlight[ing] progress on the Administration's patent policy agenda." At this event, Obama administration officials stressed the importance of the patent system to the broader economy, and described measures they have put in place to fix what they claim are persistent problems with that system. These problems include "patent trolls" and abusive patent litigation tactics, such as asserting weak and overly broad patents and leveraging the cost of litigation defense to extort settlements.
