USPTO Taps AOL IP Lawyer As General Counsel

Law360, New York (March 6, 2014, 5:59 PM EST) -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office confirmed on Thursday that it has appointed a top intellectual property lawyer from AOL Inc. to serve as general counsel beginning in April.

Coming aboard as the USPTO's chief legal officer is Sarah Harris, AOL's senior vice president and deputy general counsel for intellectual property. Michelle K. Lee, deputy under secretary of commerce for intellectual property and deputy USPTO director, confirmed the hire and lauded Harris' experience and reputation in the legal community.
