FAA Can't Enforce Aircraft Rules On Drones, Judge Says

Law360, Los Angeles (March 6, 2014, 10:02 PM EST) -- The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration cannot regulate commercial drones and other small aircraft until it writes new regulations, per an administrative law judge’s ruling on the matter Thursday.

The ruling threw out a $10,000 proposed fine the agency levied on Raphael Pirker, who was flying his model aircraft around the University of Virginia when the FAA stepped in to regulate, according to the decision.
