NJ Jury Orders Roche To Pay $1.5M For Accutane User's IBD

Law360, New York (March 11, 2014, 7:02 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey jury on Tuesday awarded at retrial over $1.5 million to a woman who developed a form of inflammatory bowel disease after taking Hoffman-LaRoche Inc.’s acne drug Accutane, representing the plaintiff's second victory, with her earlier verdict having been overturned on appeal.

Kamie Kendall Rees was awarded a judgment of $1.5 million in compensatory damages plus roughly $88,000 in past medical expenses, after a monthlong trial in which her attorneys presented evidence that Roche was aware Accutane can cause IBD and failed to adequately...
