Garmin Dodges Patent Suit Over GPS Exercise Devices

Law360, Los Angeles (March 11, 2014, 9:03 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge has found that Garmin Inc. GPS watches and bike computers do not violate Pacing Technologies LLC’s exercise-pacing patent, Garmin announced Tuesday.

The court granted Garmin’s motion for summary judgment of noninfringement, ruling that Garmin’s Edge watches and Forerunner computers could not be covered by Pacing’s patent, Garmin said. A representative for Garmin said the ruling was under seal.
