FDA Shuts Down Del. Cheese Factory After Listeria Outbreak

Law360, Chicago (March 12, 2014, 12:16 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday shut down production at a Delaware cheese factory in the wake of a Listeria outbreak in Maryland and a death in California that an investigation has linked to the company's Hispanic-style cheeses.

Roos Foods Inc. — which recalled 16 varieties of its cheeses two weeks ago after a death in California and seven reported illnesses in Maryland — had the food facility registration for its Kenton, Del., plant suspended by the FDA, the agency said in a statement....
